Willow Creek Riverwalk, Mason City

Henkel Construction Company transformed the once overgrown edge of the Southbridge Mall parking lot into a path system along Willow Creek. The new Riverwalk district consists of several unique areas that give visitors a chance to relax and experience art pieces installed throughout. An extensive wall system creates a three-tiered plaza area. The lower plaza connects to the granite walking path, bringing visitors closer to the creek. The mid plaza playground gives kids an area in which to play and burn off some energy. The “Gateway Sculpture” of the upper plaza is an array of perforated cylinders lighted from within. It casts geometric shadows on surrounding surfaces. Other attractions along the trail include lighted tuning fork structures and cast stone benches, allowing one to take in the surrounding landscape. This unique project is a great addition to the community of Mason City.
